Evening remembrance — Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah An-Nas

‘Abdullāh ibn Khubayb (Radhi Allahu 'anhu) said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, “Recite.” I asked, “What shall I recite?” He ﷺ said, “Recite Qul Huwa Allāhu Aḥad and the two Sūrahs of refuge (al-Falaq and an-Nās)…”

Qur’anic verse

بِسْـمِ اللَّـهِ الـرَّحْـمَنِ الرَّحِـيمِ
قُلْ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌ * ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ * لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ * وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌۢ

بِسْـمِ اللَّـهِ الـرَّحْـمَنِ الرَّحِـيمِ
قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلْفَلَقِ * مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ * وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ * وَمِن شَرِّ ٱلنَّفَّـٰثَـٰتِ فِى ٱلْعُقَدِ * وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ

بِسْـمِ اللَّـهِ الـرَّحْـمَنِ الرَّحِـيمِ
قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلنَّاسِ * مَلِكِ ٱلنَّاسِ * إِلَـٰهِ ٱلنَّاسِ * مِن شَرِّ ٱلْوَسْوَاسِ ٱلْخَنَّاسِ * ٱلَّذِى يُوَسْوِسُ فِى صُدُورِ ٱلنَّاسِ * مِنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ

112. Surah Al-Ikhlas
Bismi llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm.
Qul huwa llāhu aḥad. Allāhu ṣ-ṣamad. Lam yalid wa lam yūlad. Wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan aḥad.

113. Surah Al-Falaq
Bismi llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm.
Qul a‘ūdhu bi-rabbi l-falaq. Min šarri mā khalaq. Wa min šarri ghāsiqin idhā waqab. Wa min šarri n-naffāthāti fi l-‘uqad. Wa min šarri ḥāsidin idhā ḥasad.

114. Surah An-Nas
Bismi llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm.
Qul a‘ūdhu bi-rabbi n-nās. Maliki n-nās. Ilāhi n-nās. Min šarri l-waswāsi l-khannās. Alladhī yuwaswisu fī ṣudūri n-nās. Mina l-jinnati wa n-nās.

in the evening and the morning, three times for it will suffice you of all else.

Translation

112. Surah Al-Ikhlas
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful
Say, "He is Allāh, [who is] One, * Allāh, the Eternal Refuge, * He neither begets nor is born, * Nor is there to Him any equivalent."

113. Surah Al-Falaq
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful
Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak, * From the evil of that which He created, * And from the evil of darkness when it settles, * And from the evil of the blowers in knots * And from the evil of an envier when he envies."

114. Surah An-Nas
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful
Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, * The Sovereign of mankind, * The God of mankind, * From the evil of the retreating whisperer,
* Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind, * From among the jinn and mankind."

When to recite

In the evening, three times.
